Penne pasta, one of the most well-known and loved pasta cuts, is in our Know Your Noodle spotlight. The penne noodle is a specialty of the Campania region in Southern Italy.
Penne is an Italian word for “quills” or feather pens. It’s large, two inches straight and cut at an angle to resemble the point of a quill. It’s one of the most versatile noodles that can complement a variety of sauces from creamy to heavy.
You can find penne recipes such as Penne ala Vodka in our Recipe archive and on our Penne Rigate Pasta Pinterest board. Doesn’t Simple Mushroom Penne with Walnut Pesto sound good for dinner?
